icarus is a cross-platform tool that is used to convert game images in various formats into gamepaks compatible with higan.
icarus further attempts to complete missing information missing from the original image formats, such as:
- cartridge PCB memory mapping layouts
- floppy disk track spacing and checksum bytes
- CD-ROM table of contents sectors
- coprocessors used
- save RAM types
This is done through database lookups when such information has been recorded, or with fallbacks onto heuristics otherwise.
icarus is generally invoked directly by higan, but can be invoked directly for importing multiple games into higan gamepak format at once if desired.
